It’s Summer Detox Time!
Developing New Habits
1.) Day 1 – 10 – Eating whole, organic and unprocessed foods; drinking plenty of water; only eating organic fruits and vegetables (preferably from local farmer’s markets) for the first 10 days.2.) Day 11 – Adding select proteins to my diet. Animal proteins are ok, so long as it is grass fed meat, free range chicken or wild caught seafood.
3.) Taking vegetarian supplements, which contains botanicals to help purify the kidneys, blood, liver and intestines. These supplements help aid the organs as toxins are dispelled from the body. The amount of supplements can be a challenge because each few days the amount of supplements to take increases, then slowly decreases as the cleanse ends.
4.) Drinking Superfood shakes everyday. The smoothie powders are made up of antioxidants, protein, amino and omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and minerals. Generally, having 1-3 smoothies a day, in addition to meals is filling and satisfying.
The cleanse program eliminates the following:
- Artificial or refined sugar
- Tobacco and any other stimulants (ie cigarettes, etc.)
- Nuts and seeds
- Grains and beans
Also, eliminating (and I mean ANYTHING) processed or refined. As Rebecca told me, when in question, ask yourself “Did it grow in the ground?” Pretty much, for 21 days we avoid any food or drinks that comes in a box, bag, jar or carton. We were told that “only in a pinch” are we allowed to eat frozen vegetables. Sound pretty simple? Not necessarily, seeing the average grocery stores carries mostly processed foods and drinks.
