CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE CLEANSE ONLINE OR IN PERSON?
YES! The cleanse is created for people online and also people in the Atlanta area! If you live in the Atlanta area, you’ll receive complimentary yoga classes during the 10 days of the cleanse. If you participate online, you’ll receive yoga class videos.
ARE WE EATING FOOD DURING THE CLEANSE?
YES! ABSOLUTELY! We aren’t fasting or doing anything that mimics starvation. There aren’t any shakes involved either nor a diet of lemons and water. We’re eating healthy, whole foods throughout the ENTIRE cleanse and doing restorative yoga throughout the cleanse.
We’re relying on the abundance Mother Nature has offered us, which thankfully includes a DELICIOUS variety of nourishing fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and legumes! You’ll learn NEW recipes and may even find foods that you didn’t even know you enjoyed!
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CLEANSE?
Banyan Botanicals gives an easy to understand analogy as to why seasonal cleanses are an important part of healthy living. Imagine you have a garbage disposal where you throw out food you no longer want. What would happen if the garbage disposal became clogged, but you continued to throw food into it. Eventually, the garbage disposal would start to smell from all the rotting food, it would back up the disposal and may eventually affect your pipes ability to function and flow. This is what can happen to our bodies, mind and our digestive system when toxins build up.
WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF DOING AN AYURVEDA CLEANSE?
Ayurveda teaches us “how to live” by creating balance and harmony with the body, mind and spirit, during the changing seasons and cycles of life. Ayurveda is a sacred healing arts system which began thousands of years ago in India. In Ayurveda, we look at nature’s elements (earth, water, fire, air and space) and the season’s characteristics to find out how to stay in balance at that time. In Ayurveda, it is believed that each person is made up of all the elements (earth, water, fire, air and space). It is important for people to keep these elements balanced within themselves AND within the current season.
Since we will be cleansing during the fall months in the U.S., we’ll be focusing on foods, yoga and lifestyle habits that will keep us grounded, secure and nourished. This will help us prepare for the transition into the fall season, before the upcoming holidays. During the fall, we are in a season of great transition between summer and winter. The leaves change colors and start to fall off the trees, the air cools, the time changes and harvest starts to transition into dormant.
WHAT TYPES OF TOXINS DOES A CLEANSE HELP RELEASE?
It’s important to cleanse or detoxify the body and mind to remove toxins which show up in our daily lives. Some external toxins that we’re exposed to include pollutants, pesticides, chemicals, such as caffeine, cigarette smoke, cosmetics, heavy metals, household cleaning products, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals and preservatives.
All of these chemicals can affect our metabolic function. The body can naturally release these toxins, but the body can also become overwhelmed or overburdened by them. Internal toxins like carbon dioxide, ammonia and free radicals are also known to produce waste byproducts in the body.
WHY IS THE CLEANSE ONLY 10 DAYS LONG?
This is a mini-cleanse which was created for people who are new to cleansing, or have never done an Ayurveda cleanse before. Any amount of time giving your digestive system and nervous system a rest can be beneficial, whether it’s for 3 days or 30 days. The 10 day cleanse is short enough to help people get over their commitment fears of participating in a cleanse/detox program and it offers an effortless, accessible way to integrate what you learn into your daily schedule and routine.
Typically, many cleanses last closer to 21 days, which is the time needed to form a “new habit.” The cleansing time is cut in half, so it’s manageable for people with busy schedules.There’s enough time to learn new ways of living and integrate yoga and Ayurveda. into your daily routine and lifestyle.
BESIDES PHYSICALLY, HOW DOES A CLEANSE HELP ME MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY?
Cleanses also helps to detoxify the mind and purify emotions. We take in A LOT of information these days, some useless, some helpful, some funny or inciting. Think about how much mental energy you spend thinking for work, attending to personal matters, watching TV, listening to family and driving a car. It’s important to give the mind space to decompress, rejuvenate and relax. During the detox, you’ll have more time for your mind to breathe, practice yoga and de-stress. A detox will help interrupt any energetic patterns in the body or mind. Your nervous system will have time to rest and regenerate.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OR DRAWBACKS TO THE CLEANSE PROCESS?
Sometimes during the first few days of a detox, you’ll experience some drawbacks like irritability, fatigue or nausea. But, those drawbacks rarely last long. It’s a natural occurrence because the body is starting to release toxins and that requires more work for your body during that time. It will be important to rest and listen to the body’s’ messages. This will be just as important as the food you eat during the cleanse.
Usually, after a few days, the body starts to regulate itself naturally and the benefits of the cleanse will start to happen! Once you experience more clarity, energy and balance in your life, the cleanse drawbacks will decrease and you’ll experience all the cleanse benefits. You’ll also learn many supportive Ayurveda self care tips and lifestyle tips, which will help alleviate any drawbacks or side effects that you may experience.
WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF THE AYURVEDA CLEANSE KIT?

WILL I NEED ADDITIONAL ITEMS, EQUIPMENT OR PRODUCTS?
No. Everything you NEED is already part of the program. A few additional items may be helpful during the cleanse, but they’re not necessary. We’ll cover that information during our cleanse prep. session.
WHAT IF IT EAT SOMETHING THAT IS NOT PART OF THE CLEANSE FOOD/DRINK LIST?
Take a deep breath and continue back on the cleanse. If you veer outside the food recommendations and activities, just start again. Don’t give up and PLEASE DON’T beat yourself up! You’ll STILL receive benefits if you veer off, then continue with the cleanse process. Do your best though to commit and surrender to the process. You’ll get so much more out of the experience!
HOW DOES YOGA CONNECT TO THE CLEANSE PROCESS?
Moving the body through yoga, helps it to release toxins, stay grounded, balanced and relaxed during the cleanse process.
A yoga self practice helps to steady and clear the mind. The cleanse process helps to disrupt and excavate any emotions,
thought patterns or behaviors which no longer serves you.
DO I NEED YOGA EXPERIENCE TO PARTICIPATE?
No experience necessary! All yoga classes whether in person or online are ALL LEVELS! Move at your own pace.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLEANSE GROUP OR CAN I DO A CLEANSE ON MY OWN?
Presently, I’m only offering the Fall 2016 cleanse group from Oct. 21 – Oct. 30. If you start a few days late, that’s ok. But, all cleanse packages must be purchased no later than Oct. 20 Late shipping rates will be applied to the price. Otherwise, the next cleanse group, as well as individual cleanse programs will resume in Spring 2017. But, now is the BEST time to do a cleans, before the holidays and before the winter season begins. It’s best not to cleanse during the winter months. It isn’t an ideal time for the body to detox.

Sure! It is always helpful to consult your physician before making any changes to your diet or fitness regimen.
